Model Fuels Consortium Designated an Industry Leadership Finalist for Platts Global Energy AwardsA First for the Consortium, Led by Reaction Design
|
“It is an honor for the Model Fuels Consortium to be recognized as an industry leader,” said Bernie Rosenthal, CEO of Reaction Design. “Five years ago, Reaction Design formed the group to address clean engine design challenges exacerbated by the urgent need to reduce pollutant emissions and the economic realities driving the introduction of new and more complex alternative fuels. The MFC has made great progress in enabling companies to design cleaner burning, more efficient engines and fuels for transportation and power generation applications.” Finalists in Platts’ Industry Leadership category are those that have taken decisive action resulting in a substantial transformation or change of direction in the energy industry itself. By detailing the combustion behaviors of dozens of fuel combinations, the MFC is radically streamlining the design process and speeding time-to-market of efficient and clean-burning systems, while also drastically reducing costs for manufacturers. The MFC’s simulation-based approach also offers an enhanced ability to explore innovative designs under operating conditions that may not be practical or achievable in hardware testing environments. Earlier this year, based on data presented by members of the MFC and the directorate of the Combustion Research Facility at Sandia National Laboratories, the U.S. government acknowledged the critical link between the need to improve greenhouse gas emissions and advanced combustion simulation, providing validation of the MFC’s anticipatory vision. The MFC was conceived of and is led by Reaction Design, a company that empowers energy companies and transportation equipment manufacturers to achieve their clean technology goals with a comprehensive set of engineering software, computer models and expert consulting services. The 2010 finalists were selected from over 200 nominations. Winners of the 2010 Global Energy Awards will be announced on December 2, 2010, at a gala awards ceremony in New York City.
