San Diego, CA – October 6, 2010 – Reaction Design is pleased to announce that the Model Fuels Consortium (MFC) has been selected as a finalist in the Industry Leadership category of the Platts Global Energy Awards, an annual program recognizing exemplary industry leadership.

Finalists in Platts’ Industry Leadership category are those that have taken decisive action resulting in a substantial transformation or change of direction in the energy industry itself. By detailing the combustion behaviors of dozens of fuel combinations, the MFC is radically streamlining the design process and speeding time-to-market of efficient and clean-burning systems, while also drastically reducing costs for manufacturers. The MFC’s simulation-based approach also offers an enhanced ability to explore innovative designs under operating conditions that may not be practical or achievable in hardware testing environments.

Earlier this year, based on data presented by members of the MFC and the directorate of the Combustion Research Facility at Sandia National Laboratories, the U.S. government acknowledged the critical link between the need to improve greenhouse gas emissions and advanced combustion simulation, providing validation of the MFC’s anticipatory vision.
